I think that the life of Bruce Lee demonstrates two very valuable concepts. First, that the martial arts are a powerful vehicle for illustrating and teaching self-mastery. Not just a sport, there is history, philosophy, and science with the technique. It’s about developing yourself mentally and emotionally as well as physically. Bruce Lee was an avid reader, writer and student of life which is often overshadowed by his movies and physical prowess. Second, is the principle of balance. Without a sense of balancing the three areas of physical, mental and emotional, personal pursuits of any kind can lead to obsession. Personal obsession can lead to self-destruction. -Bryan Nann
